Mount Carmel Credit Union

The Mount Carmel Credit Union Ltd. was initially formed by a small group of 6 persons under the guidance of Father Sutti S.J.
Savings were 25¢ per week. On the 14th of December , 1958 the Credit Union was officially registered with a total of 65 members and office hours were from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Wednesdays only. The lower flat of the Catholic Presbytery was used as an office.

The office was later moved to the corner of St. Joseph and Diaz Streets and finally in 1981 it moved to its own building on #37 Church Street where it is presently located.
In 1991 the Mt. Carmel Credit Union inaugurated its new extension and renovated building.
Today, after 50 years of operations the Credit Union has a membership of over 2,500 and approximately $200,000.00 in assets.
The Credit Union offers its members services such as savings, loans, mortgages and other banking services on a cooperative basis. We look forward to improvise to better meet the needs of our valuable members by working hand in hand with them.
We are the collection agents for B.E.L. and B.T. L. being some additional services that our members and the community in a whole have the advantage of enjoying.
 

Presently the office hours are:

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday: 8:30 a.m.-12:00 noon, 1:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Wednesday: 8:30 – 12:00 noon

Saturdays: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon
